What is a Christian? by Ryan McGraw is part of the 12-booklet Cultivating Biblical Godliness series published by Reformation Heritage Books. This booklet is short at just 30 pages and looks at the biblical definition of what it means to be a Christian.
Mr. McGraw identifies what a Christian believes (the Word of God), what a Christian experiences (union with Christ), and what a Christian does (obedient love). He gives a clear Gospel presentation (p. 12) and explains the monergistic work of the Holy Spirit in the regeneration process (p. 14). Even though this book is brief, it is vital for the evangelical church today. The author calls upon the non-Christian, the professing Christian, and the true Christian to work out his "salvation with fear and trembling," (Phil. 2:12). Many people may call themselves Christian in America, but not every one that says "Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven," (Matt. 7:21). I highly recommend that all people take the time to read What is a Christian?
"From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand," (Matthew 4:17).
